Look & listen as my guest shares the tale of a perfect “skipping” rock. It tells his story of himself, as a young father, of two boys at the water’s edge. He skipped a rock across the surface of the lake and his sons were in awe of their Dad. Wade taught his boys to skip rocks that day and kept a rock to hold onto the memory of the day he saw himself through his children’s eyes. He keeps this rock, his gratitude rock, in his pocket. He holds it when he gets overwhelmed and needs a reminder of all the love he has in his life.
Wade is a new children’s book author and his stories talk about grief, loss and Things that matter. Wade cares deeply about our collective humanity and knows that emotional agility matters. And of course connections, community & legacy are integral elements of building these relationship & resilience skills.
His 1st book in his emotional agility series is The Bird Ride and his second, which launches Jan 11th 2023, is The Mirror Box. The Mirror Box tells the story of a great love between a grandson and grandfather and the great loss Christopher faces when his Papa dies. He soon discovers, with the help of his dog, a mirror box filled with Things his Papa left behind. These Things help Christopher understand that his Papa would always be with him. And just like Wade’s rock, all he has to do is return to the mirror box and the Things in it to reconnect with his grandfather.
