SUMMARY:Artists\, Inspiration & Tools
DESCRIPTION:Whether they are from today or 75+ years ago\, bring your past and present objects that inspire you. \nWas an ancestor or is a family member an artist/crafter/designer? Did you inherit a tool of their trade or have a photo or piece of artwork? Or does a present-day object remind you of them or inspire you as an artist? What or who inspired you to create at the start of your career? Or now? Is there a card/letter you take out to read when you’re feeling down? A favorite mug or sweater that comforts you or brings a smile to your face? Bring a piece of your personal history & share its story. \nBring photos\, letters\, lockets or locks of hair\, cameras\, jewelry\, paintbrushes\, woodworking tools\, aprons\, books\, paintings or prints & any other object that represents or connects you to art! Bring your ephemera\, your textiles\, tools & inspirational objects. \nEveryone is welcome to share with a 3-minute time limit. No judges\, no prizes\, and no competition. And no need to practice! Just show your object and share its tale. \nJust want to come and listen? Awesome. Observers are always welcome.

SUMMARY:Hogs\, Heifers & Homesteads
DESCRIPTION:In honor of farmers\, farming and food\, join us for an evening of sharing your stuff & stories. \nDid you grow up on a farm? Did you show any animals at a country fair? Drive a tractor? Or bail hay? Did you join a community garden or roof-top urban farm? \nHave you worked on a farm? Do you know how to milk a cow? \nDo you pride yourself in knowing where your food comes from? Who picks it & delivers it? \nFarm unions & food coops? You get the picture…. Everything farm related has a story. \nWe would love to hear your stories\, or perhaps you would rather just listen to them\, it’s all good! \nFYI: While working on trademarking my business\, I found out I couldn’t ™ Show & Tales. My lawyer advised me to add something before S&T. I searched for months & finally found the word Thingtide. Thing’s are what we bring to my events & tide like the tide rolling in. It was perfect AND it’s the name of a Viking harvest gathering. The people gathered to make sure there was enough food for the community to make it through the long cold winters. I came across this in a book my Mom gave me called One Woman Farm by Jenna Woginrich. She has a little homestead in upstate NY called Cold Antler Farm. \nA quote from Jenna: “We need inspiration\, hope & tradition as much as we need calories.”

SUMMARY:My Favorite Thing (Family Edition)
DESCRIPTION:Let’s face it\, most of our homes are full of personal belongings including photos\, documents\, and memorabilia. But have you ever stopped to think whether you or your family members know the stories behind these things? \nJoin me & my friends from Novel Excursions on this journey of discovery buried in plain sight within & around our homes. \nDo you know why your child has that clay model on his/her/their window sill? Or that poster on the back of her/their/his bedroom door? \nDo you know why your parent keeps that ragged old apron hanging in the pantry? Those eye glasses on a kitchen self? What about the objects of seemingly more importance on the mantel or in a display case? \nThe world is a rich tapestry woven together by generations of stuff & stories. Each generation contributes & distributes an enduring legacy that springs us into a better tomorrow. The tales we tell bridge cultures\, span continents\, shape identity\, provide purpose\, and\, most of all\, build community. \nIn this divisive age\, it is important to look at the past\, not with rose-colored glasses but with humble appreciation. Take a walk with us on this multi-generational journey as we revel in our similarities\, celebrate our differences\, and find our place in this global family. \nAt our multi-generational Family Show & Tale\, we encourage you to explore your past\, enjoy your present\, and look forward to your future. \nCome tell your story through an object\, learn the lessons of generations past\, and find youthful inspiration. \nAnd\, as our friends at Novel Excursion Travel say\, your story is written one brave step at a time: Tell. Listen. Learn. You can see why we’ve partnered on these story-sharing gatherings…. Show. Share. Connect. \nAnd remember you are always welcome to look & listen. No one will be forced to share… but bring something along just in case you feel inspired. \nLet’s build connections within & between our families one story of stuff at a time.
